And the race starts

I wonder if the poor mud crabs knew what was before them as they waited in
the bin for their race to start. They were then tipped out into the middle
of the ring, given a kick start if necessary and raced to the rope finish
line.

 

There was no doubting the losers prize - free crabs with the BBQ dinner.


It was a fun night. There was a good size crowd at the event and I assume
many like us were visitors. Interestingly our friends from Greymouth were
recognised by another Greymouth local who now lives in Derby along with his
family and they enjoyed catching up. New Zealanders certainly get around.
I can't imagine shifting from NZ to live in Derby.
