We arrived in Darwin on Wednesday morning and have now booked into the Big 4
caravan park in Howard Springs for the next four nights. It didn't take us
long to set up camp, and meet the neighbours, and as it was over 30 degrees
we were off to the pool to cool off. This camping ground has two pool areas
with lots of palm trees - it is truly like being in the tropics.
Connor is coming to stay with us for two weeks. It will be different for us
to have a twelve year old staying. The majority of the flights into and out
of Darwin are during the night (fortunately we are not staying close to the
airport). Connor leaves Melbourne at 12.45 a.m. and arrives here at 5.45
a.m. and it will be his first flight on his own.
We got out of bed at 5 a.m. (not our usual get up time these days) and the
flight arrived on time and a very blurry eyed Connor came down the
escalator. He had had very little sleep on the flight but no other
problems.
Back to the caravan and bed for Connor for the majority of the morning.
Peter had the car booked into for a service so off he went and had to hang
around the Darwin CBD for the full day waiting on it. Connor and I spent a
quiet day at the caravan park, filling most of the afternoon in at the pool.
Gill and Peter like to travel. In 2011/12 they completed a trip around Australia. One of the things that they are aware of is the fact that to live your dream then you actually have to do something and that's what they did. In 2013 they decided to further explore outback Australia and crossed the Simpson Desert. Going forward they will continue to travel as they plan for the next few years. To see some of their other trips follow the links.
