During our travel along the Indian Ocean Drive we had come across a
reference to the leaning trees. We saw some of these trees but had failed
to stop and take a photo. When we saw them at Sandford Station it was time
to rectify that. The story goes that as there is significant wind in the
area the trees are constantly buffeted from the coast and as they grow they
grow with the lean. We haven't found it windy at all during our travel in
this part of Western Australia but at times of the year it must be to cause
the trees to grow this way. They were certainly interesting.
Gill and Peter like to travel. In 2011/12 they completed a trip around Australia. One of the things that they are aware of is the fact that to live your dream then you actually have to do something and that's what they did. In 2013 they decided to further explore outback Australia and crossed the Simpson Desert. Going forward they will continue to travel as they plan for the next few years. To see some of their other trips follow the links.
