Carnarvon is on the coast and there is a pretty bay area and this photo is
taken from the end of the main street.
After horticulture, fishing is a major industry with prawns, scallop, crab
and wet line fishing. Tourism is the fastest growing industry, particularly
with the migration north to warmer weather over winter. There are at least
six large caravan parks in the town catering for these tourists, both from
Australia and overseas. Like us, many stay for a week to give a break in
their journey, and this must bring in significant money into the town.
Gill and Peter like to travel. In 2011/12 they completed a trip around Australia. One of the things that they are aware of is the fact that to live your dream then you actually have to do something and that's what they did. In 2013 they decided to further explore outback Australia and crossed the Simpson Desert. Going forward they will continue to travel as they plan for the next few years. To see some of their other trips follow the links.
