After three days we reluctantly gave up our camp site amongst the palms and
travelled about seventy kilometres north to stay at Edith Falls which is not
the north border of Nitmiluk National Park. We stayed in the national park
camping ground and we were pleased that we arrived early in the day as they
were soon booked out as it is so popular.
The falls are not large but they create a large pool of water and because
the rangers "manage" the crocodiles swimming is allowed as traps are set.
The water is not heated, but it wasn't cold and we enjoyed a dip to cool
off. Again the temperatures were in the early 30's and the humidity is much
higher than in Western Australia. I had to be careful as the depth of the
water was soon over my head and I don't like to go out of my depth. So it
was my turn to get out and take the photo. Some people swam across the
water and climbed up on to the rocks by the falls but not Peter.
