Camping at Sandy Cape Recreation Park

Our camping spot for the night was at Sandy Cape Recreation Park. This
facility is operated by the Shire at Jurien Bay and is about six kilometres
off the Indian Ocean Drive. What a fabulous place! The park has about
forty sites which are set among the sand dunes and have been graded and
fenced. There is no power but toilet facilities and water is available. We
had a site facing the coast and we were lucky there wasn't a huge tide as
the waves may have come in the caravan door. When we stayed there would
have been something like 20 camping groups. It was just so peaceful. The
next couple of photos will show the beautiful bay. See the sand dunes in the background of this photo. There was a sign saying no 4wdriving on dunes but sand boarding etc was allowed.

Subject to the tides it is possible to beach 4wd and this appeared popular to get to favourite fishing spots. We chose not to do this and there was really no other choice. The tide was very high when we visited.

We have found some great places to stay away from formal caravan parks.
Sandy Cape Recreation Park is certainly up there with the best and at $15
per night for a family makes a very affordable holiday.
